I have become the medical director for a company making a heart health supplement called ProKardia. The company is also called ProKardia Health Ltd http://www.prokardia.com/. I am a shareholder, and I am doing consultancy work for them, for which I will be paid.
The product contains l-arginine, potassium, thiamine, co-enzyme Q10, magnesium, folic acid, l-carnitine, vitamin K2, and l-citrulline. I have worked with, and spoken with, the company founders for some years (before they decided to produce this product). I advised them that I strongly believed that all of these ingredients have strong evidence to support their use [I do not know what the benefits will be in combination].
If I do write about ProKardia or any of the ingredients in ProKardia, in a positive light, you need to know that I have a financial interest. I did not use the word conflict of interest in this statement, as I do not believe I have a conflict. I have become involved in developing, and using, a product that I entirely believe to be a good thing.
I am now recommending this product for patients, especially those with high risk factors for CVD and/or existing CVD. I use it myself, and I have advised other family members to use it.
